Los Siete Misterios was founded in 2010 by brothers Eduardo and Julio Mestre in Oaxaca, Mexico, with the aim of preserving traditional mezcal culture while giving small palenques and mezcaleros a clearer voice in the market. Rooted in the Valles Centrales and other mezcal-producing communities of Oaxaca, the producer is closely associated with artisanal and ancestral methods, including roasted agave, natural fermentation, small-batch distillation, and expressions that reflect specific villages, agave varieties, and maker techniques. Their philosophy centers on transparency, cultural continuity, and respect for regional mezcal identity rather than industrial consistency. Beyond their core joven mezcals, Los Siete Misterios is also known for limited agave-specific bottlings such as Tobalá, Tepeztate, Arroqueño, and Coyote, as well as Doba-Yej, a more approachable espadín expression that still keeps the house focus on Oaxaca’s earthy, mineral, and smoke-laced mezcal character.
