Maker’s Mark Steward’s Selection 750ml
About Maker’s Mark Steward’s Selection 750ml - Taste & Features
Smooth, warm, and easy to enjoy on a relaxed evening, Maker’s Mark Steward’s Selection 750ml is a Kentucky wheated bourbon bottled at 45% ABV. Made with soft red winter wheat instead of rye, it shows the classic Maker’s Mark style, aged in charred new American oak and finished with its signature hand-dipped wax seal.
Expect notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, gentle baking spice, and a rounded sweetness that feels mellow rather than sharp. It pairs beautifully with barbecue ribs, where the bourbon’s sweetness and oak complement smoky, tangy sauce, and it also works well with dark chocolate for a richer, slightly bittersweet finish.
Producer Information: Maker’s Mark Distillery
Maker’s Mark Distillery is based in Loretto, Kentucky, in the heart of bourbon country. The modern brand began in 1953 when Bill Samuels Sr. purchased the former Burks’ Distillery, with Margie Samuels shaping much of its identity, including the name, bottle design, label, and signature red wax seal. Production centers on Kentucky straight bourbon made with a wheated mash bill, using soft red winter wheat instead of rye for a rounder, sweeter profile. The distillery uses limestone-filtered water, sour mash fermentation, copper distillation, and careful barrel maturation, with barrels traditionally rotated by hand to encourage consistency across aging warehouses.
Beyond its flagship bourbon, Maker’s Mark offers several expressions that explore proof, maturation, and oak influence. Maker’s Mark 46 adds finishing staves for deeper vanilla, baking spice, and toasted wood character, while Maker’s Mark Cask Strength presents the whiskey at a higher proof with fuller texture. The Private Selection program allows custom stave combinations, creating limited bottlings with varied flavor emphasis. The Wood Finishing Series and Cellar Aged releases further extend the portfolio through stave finishing and older stock, keeping the focus on wheated Kentucky bourbon rather than branching into unrelated spirits or beer.
